Intensives

For couples facing urgent relationship challenges, weekly therapy can feel like a slow path to change. If you’re feeling stuck or overwhelmed, an immersive approach offers the opportunity to make real progress in a short time. Or if you are a busy family and finding consistent time every week is not realistic. Intensives are a practical way to make progress in your relationship, while not having to build into the mental and physical load of each week in family life.

Our Couples Intensive Therapy provides up to 14 hours of focused work over 2 days, allowing you and your partner to deeply explore the patterns keeping you disconnected. Using Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) as our foundation, we move from identifying what’s gone wrong to creating new, meaningful experiences that restore connection and build hope.

While it is an investment, it is such a practical way to work on your relationship without having interruptions of family life, babysitters cancel, and kids knocking at the door.

What to Expect:

  • Two-Day-Plus Intensive – A 30-minute consultation zoom call with Kate prior to scheduling.

  • 9am-4pm (approximately) usually on a Sunday and Monday, in-person.

  • Breaks for lunch and as necessary

  • Coffee, water, and snacks

  • A small summary of the work done together, to be received the following week.

This immersive experience provides a powerful reset, equipping you with the insight and tools to move forward together.

The Process:

🔹 90-Minute Initial Session (Morning of Day One)

Your journey starts with a chance to share your relationship story—the ways you feel stuck in the present, what drew you together in the first place, and the pain of what’s gone wrong. As we listen, we map the relational dance between you, using insights from the science of love relationships to help you make sense of your experience.

🔹 75-Minute Individual Sessions (Morning of Day One + After Lunch)

The next morning, we meet separately with each of you to explore your individual histories and better understand your personal experiences within the relationship.

🔹 De-Escalating the Conflict Cycle (Remainder of Day One)

Coming back together, we focus on identifying the negative cycle that keeps you disconnected. We work to understand the underlying emotions driving conflict—not just the surface disagreements, but the deeper fears, triggers, and needs that shape your interactions.

🔹 Rebuilding Connection & Strengthening Your Bond (Day Two, If Applicable)

For those continuing into a Two-Day-Plus Intensive, we shift from breaking destructive patterns to building a stronger emotional bond. You’ll learn to express fears that have kept you apart and communicate your needs with greater openness and vulnerability, creating space for renewed trust and connection.

This immersive approach allows you to experience real change in days rather than months, equipping you with the clarity and tools needed to move forward together.

FAQ

What if we need more than what can be accomplished in a Two-Day Intensive?

While many couples experience a significant breakthrough during this immersive experience, every relationship is unique. Some couples leave feeling equipped to move forward on their own, while others benefit from ongoing couples therapy to continue integrating their progress. If additional support is needed, we can discuss follow-up therapy options or help you find a skilled therapist in your home location.

What are the fees and how is payment made?

Two-Day-Plus Intensive – $2,750

A 50% deposit is required to secure your date, with the remaining balance due on the day of your session. Payments can be made by check or credit card. Please note that insurance does not cover this service, but we’re happy to discuss payment options as needed.

How do we know if this approach is right for us?

Before committing to an intensive, we offer a pre-screening Zoom consultation with both partners. This conversation ensures that the immersive format is a good fit for your needs. If we decide to move forward, you’ll receive a contract to sign, followed by an extensive intake packet to be completed a week before our initial session. This allows your therapist to familiarize themselves with the strengths and challenges of your relationship in advance.

Do We Meet In Person or Online?

Intensives are primarily an in-person experience held in downtown Zionsville, IN. For out-of-town couples, we recommend booking local accommodations to minimize travel time and to fully immerse yourselves in the retreat experience, stepping away from daily responsibilities. However, there is some flexibility and ways we can make the time work.

If attending fully in person isn’t possible due to childcare or work constraints, we offer a hybrid option.

Do any of these thoughts resonate with you?

  • “We’ve had a communication breakdown for years.”

  • “My partner doesn’t talk to me—I feel so alone in this relationship.”

  • “No matter what I do, it’s never good enough.”

  • “I can’t get past what my partner did to me.”

  • “We’ve tried everything. If this doesn’t work, we’re finished.”

  • “We’re okay, but something is missing—we live parallel lives.”

  • “My partner is no longer attracted to me.”

  • “The conflict is unbearable, but underneath it all, we love each other.”

If you’re feeling stuck in a downward spiral, it can be overwhelming—like you barely recognize the person you once fell in love with. It’s natural to question everything when the connection feels lost, and you may have already tried countless ways to make things better.

We recommend taking space from your home and booking a hotel. This will allow you to focus on the relationship and not the business of life. This experience is designed to help you and your partner explore what it takes to move forward in a safe and guided environment. With the support of an expert therapist, you’ll begin to untangle unresolved conflict, make sense of confusing emotions, and uncover the deeper needs often hidden beneath the surface.

If you're ready to explore new possibilities for your relationship, let’s talk.
